Harry and the Potters Summer Reading List '06!

Ok, so here's the deal. If you read any of the books on this list and bring a book report to one of our summer shows, then we'll give you a free Harry and the Potters toothbrush! Awesome right? Almost as awesome as these books!

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius - Dave Eggers

Paul: This is my favorite book of all time. Absolutely inspiring! I just reread it to get psyched up for this summer tour! It's sad and it's funny and it makes you want to tackle the world. It's a book that can change your life.

Cat's Cradle - Kurt Vonnegut

Paul: This book did change my life. It blew me away the first time I read it. I think I've reread it maybe 6 or 7 times. Vonnegut is one of the greatest American authors ever and this is his best work. There's not a wasted line in the whole book.

Contact - Carl Sagan

Paul: Did you see the movie? It was really good. So it the book. Both the book and the movie really challenge the faith vs science argument and they do it in a way that doesn't alienate either party. It's a book that really makes you think about what you believe and what you know to be true. Enlightening.

Stranger in a Strange Land (unabridged) - Robert A. Heinlein

Paul: I've never read this book, but as we've been talking about this reading list, Joe and I asked Brad and Brian (from Draco and the Malfoys) if they had any recommendations. When both of them suggested this book, I knew we had to include it. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea - Jules Verne

Paul: I've never read this book either! But I did read "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" in junior high and loved it. Plus, Jules Verne is Doc Brown's favorite author, so that lends it some credibility. And don't forget that it has a giant squid!

A Wrinkle in Time - Madeline L'Engle

Paul: Something for the kids! I definitely read this a few times while I was in grade school. It's a pretty crazy book, so I'm looking forward to rereading it!
