November 27, 2006 Hey everyone. We are literally counting down the days to the Yule Ball now. We cannot wait! Those attending the Philly Yule Ball may want to consider the pre-show Winter Feast that is being put together by Potterdelphia. It starts at 2pm at the Spaghetti Warehouse, which is around the corner from the Starlight Ballroom. A Lightning Bolt Scar will be playing and for $15, it's all you can eat pasta and lasagna. Yes, you better load up on carbs for an awesome night of rocking! Hopefully some of us wizard rockers will make it over to fuel up before rocking! Tickets MUST be purchased in advance and the deadline is this Thursday, Nov. 30th! Go here for more info and to get tickets! With the holiday shopping season upon us, we are really psyched to finally be able to release our long-rumored split 7" with the Zambonis. They've been friends of ours for a while and we couldn't think of a better band to release a really bizarre conceptual 7" with. This record has two exclusive songs from us (see below). Plus, you get this amazing artwork from James Kochalka!
And in honor of this fine release, you can now listen to our new hit single, "The Hogwarts Tonsil Hockey Team" over on our MySpace page. And one final reminder to anyone planning on attending the Boston Yule Ball. We are expecting both shows to sell out, so we STRONGLY advise you to order advanced tickets, especially if you plan on travelling to the show. Tickets for the the Boston Yule Balls are available through Ticketmaster and at the Middle East Box Office in Cambridge (1-7pm). Buy online: Early show | Late Show | BOTH shows. See you soon!!!! -paul November 17, 2006 Our unreleased song for this week is called "Let's Drink to Aragog." We wrote this song in the van this summer with some contributions from our tourmates, Brian and Bradley. The song title stems from a song-naming contest at Lumos 2006. Congrats to Debbie, who was the winner. This is a live version of the song recorded (by Jon) in Pasadena, CA on July 29, 2006 at Fuller Seminary. We've only performed this song a few times. Enjoy! We finally got the test pressings back for our split 7" with the Zambonis! We've been waiting on this release for a while. Hopefully we'll be able to start selling it in just a couple weeks! It's a really great record. We have two songs, "the Forbidden Forest Hockey League" and "the Hogwarts Tonsil Hockey Team," and the Zambonis put down a brilliant track called "Harry Potter and his Magic Hockey Stick." Plus artwork by James Kochalka! Woohoo! Also, get your Yule Ball tickets! -paul
October 31, 2006 Tickets for both Yule Balls are now on sale! Tickets for Philadelphia are available online through TicketWeb, and they are also on sale at AKA Music (2nd and Market Sts) or by calling 1-866-468-7619 (toll free). Tickets for the Middle East shows are available through Ticketmaster and at the Middle East Box Office in Cambridge (1-7pm). Buy online: Early show | Late Show | BOTH shows This week, the unreleased song-of-the-week kicks us back to early 2004 with our demo version of the Godfather, Part II, recorded in our parent's living room. More treats to come. And in case anyone missed our posting on Myspace, last week the Harry Potter Alliance released a video aimed at raising consumer awareness about Walmart. Read our post and check out the video here. Happy Halloween! Anyone going to a Deathday Party? -paul October 17, 2006 The new, unreleased song for the week is "Bacon." Joe and I recorded this back in January while we were demoing songs for the Power of Love. We noticed that bacon is mentioned in nearly all the books and it always seems to cheer Harry up, so we naturally assumed that it's his favorite food. Tasty. Check it out on Myspace. Myspace, wonderful though it is, keeps deleting our supplemental page of MP3s. So that's why no one can listen to all the old hits like "Wizard Chess" and "Stick it to Dolores." I'll find a host for them soon, so sit tight. Also, Potter Puppet Pals have been added to the already pretty awesome lineup for the early show at the Yule Ball: Boston. They will be doing a LIVE puppet performance! Also, tickets for the Boston show will go on sale Saturday though Ticketmaster and the Middle East Box office (walk-up only). The Philly show should also go on sale soon. Stay tuned! -paul October 9, 2006 Here's what's new for fall: We have a show this weekend at MassArt in Boston. It's on Sunday the 15th at 5pm. The show is part of this year's North East Sticks Together (N.E.S.T.), a week-long 'festival' celebrating music from the New England area. Check out our awesome show tips for the week. And we are vey pleased to announce this year's edition of the Yule Ball! This year, we're
bringing the Yule Ball to Philadelphia on Saturday, December
2nd, where we will be joined by Draco
and the Malfoys, Uncle Monsterface,
and the Hungarian
Horntails! It all happens at the Starlight Ballroom. Plan to
be there, plan to dress nice, and plan to party hard. And then a week later, we will be returning to the Middle East in Cambridge, MA to host our second annual Yule Ball there. This year, we will be performing two shows (!) on Sunday, December 10th. Throughout the day, we will be joined by Draco and the Malfoys, Uncle Monsterface, the Remus Lupins, the Hungarian Horntails, Jason Anderson and the Best and more special guests!!! Once again, we expect you to look your finest! It's the party of the year! More info on the Yule Balls is on the shows page. We'll have the ticket info available in the next week or so. Let's finish out 2006 with a bang because 2007 is going to be even bigger and better! We're also planning on putting some new songs up on our Myspace. They're not actually new, but, in most cases, it's stuff we've never released before, so watch our Myspace page if you're interested in hearing some odds and ends. We'll be trying to put up a new song every week for the next few weeks. See you at the shows,
September 14, 2006 Hey everyone, I just found out that someone just named a planet after us! Awesome right? Read about it here! September 12, 2006 Hey all you awesome people! Sorry about the lag-time in updates. We're not dead or anything! We had an awesome end to our summer tour and we've been kicking it out Awesomechusetts-style for the last few weeks. Joe started college, so we're not playing as much for the next few months. However, we do have a pretty cool show coming up in Brooklyn next week, so hopefully you NYC wizards will check that out. We'll also be playing in Boston in October as part of the N.E.S.T. festival. More info on that soon! And for all you people waiting for those tour diary entires we'll get to them eventually. Joe's pretty busy doing calculus proofs and drawing comics, but I promise we will have it done before 2007. You guys are the best! -paul August 13, 2006 In case you missed in, NPR aired a very nice short piece about our little band on Weekend America yesterday. If you want to check it out, they have a stream of it here. Also, we just got up Entry 3 of our summer tour diary. Read on!
